Joshua J. Watson

Mr. Joshua J. Watson joined Sorling Northrup in 2016 and became a shareholder in January of 2017. Prior to joining Sorling Northrup, Mr. Watson practiced in the Springfield area for more than six years.

He was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 2009 and has also been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Mr. Watson concentrates his practice on family law, including divorce, custody, visitation, maintenance, child support, asset/debt division, orders of protection, and paternity matters.

Mr. Watson is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Sangamon County Bar Association, where he formerly served on the board of directors and was the chair of the Charitable Outreach and Development Committee. He is a past president, board member, and Master in the Lincoln-Douglas Chapter of the American Inns of Court. Mr. Watson is also a former member of the board of directors for The Hope Institute and the Springfield Art Association, and is active with many other local charities and causes.

Mr. Watson graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. He then received his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2009, graduating cum laude.
