Joshua J. Watson

Joshua J. Watson joined Sorling Northrup in 2016 and became a shareholder in January of 2017. Prior to joining Sorling Northrup, Mr. Watson practiced in the Springfield area for more than six years.

Mr. Watson was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 2009, and he has also been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He concentrates his practice on family law, including divorce, custody, visitation, maintenance, child support, asset/debt division, orders of protection, and paternity matters. While his office is located in Sangamon County, he has handled family law matters in courts throughout Central Illinois.

Mr. Watson is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Sangamon County Bar Association, where he formerly served on the board of directors. He is a board member and barrister in the Lincoln-Douglas Chapter of the American Inns of Court. Mr. Watson has also served as a member of the board of directors for The Hope Institute and for the Springfield Art Association, he is a member of Young Philanthropists, and he is active with many other local charities.

Mr. Watson graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. He then received his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2009, graduating cum laude.
