Ama Mends joined Sorling Northrup in 2021. Her practice focuses on health law with an emphasis on providing hospitals, health systems, and providers with regulatory, compliance, and corporate transaction assistance. In addition, Ama has civil litigation experience and works with businesses, public entities, and local governments in contract negotiations and disputes.

Prior to her arrival at Sorling, Ama worked for four years as a senior consultant at the leading U.S. supplier of health care IT solutions further honing her health care industry knowledge by leading multiple electronic health care implementations.

Ama earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She graduated from Saint Louis University (M.H.A., 2020) and received her Juris Doctor with a Health Law Certification from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2020.

During her law school career, Ama was a lead editor on the Saint Louis University Journal of Health Law and Policy, a student attorney in the Civil Advocacy Clinic, and inducted into the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society. Additionally, Ama interned at one of the largest nonprofit hospital systems in the United States gaining valuable in-house experience.

Ama is a member of the Illinois State, Central Illinois Women’s, Sangamon County Bar, and American Health Law Associations.
