Lisa A. Petrilli

Lisa A. Petrilli joined Sorling Northrup upon graduation from law school in 2003 and was admitted to practice law on November 6, 2003. She concentrates her practice in the areas of civil litigation, commercial contracts, real estate, and municipal and administrative law.

Ms. Petrilli regularly advises municipalities, public utilities, and common carriers on a variety of legal issues, including land acquisition in Illinois. She regularly represents such clients in state and federal court and has argued before the Illinois Supreme Court. Her commercial contracts and real estate practice includes advising clients on issues relating to contract negotiation and drafting, real estate transactions, and commercial litigation. Ms. Petrilli also has significant experience advising and representing municipalities and other units of local government.

Ms. Petrilli, a Springfield native, graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield (B.A., cum laude, 1999). She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (formerly the John Marshall Law School) (cum laude, 2003), where she was on the Dean’s List and was admitted to the Order of John Marshall. Ms. Petrilli served as a member of The John Marshall Law Review and authored a published article on Illinois Pattern Instructions for Juries in medical malpractice cases. Ms. Petrilli has authored or co-authored chapters for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Contracts Smart Book and is a frequent speaker on matters related to commercial and residential Landlord/Tenant Law.

Ms. Petrilli is a member and past president of the Central Illinois Women’s Bar Association. She is a member of the American, Illinois, and Sangamon County Bar Associations, as well as a member of the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association.
